Hello Parents!
This week we have been talking about arctic animals. It seemed to correlate well with our winter weather. The students have learned about why animals need camouflage, why some animals hibernate, and how the blubber helps them survive these cold temperatures. We completed the lesson by making a penguin! For the next few weeks we will be continuing with different animal units. At the end of this unit the students will create an animal book. They will write and illustrate their own story about an animal of their choosing.
For Black History Month we will be writing about famous African Americans and their accomplishments.
NWEA testing is complete. We will be filling out their student goal sheets this week and sending them home. Your teacher will send a message when these go out. Please remember to work on Raz-Kids at night throughout the week so your student can get more computer practice.
COUNT DAY is this Wednesday. Please do not forget to dress up like a cowboy. It is important that ALL students are present this day. Our federal funding is based upon our enrollment and attendance this day.
Next week will be Valentines Day (Tuesday) & 100's day (Thursday). Please send in the items for Valentines day when you can. More information will be coming out for 100's day.
